Believe it or not, at my house people prefer birthday pies! The favorites are chocolate cream, brown sugar, and coconut cream!
They're kinda hard to stick candles in, but they're really tasty!

I loved creating all the cakes that I have made so far, because with each one I've learned a lot more, and the fun of creation is immense!!!
But the black and white one was my biggest and I loved it.
I have two new projects, a BD cake that will be a basket of flowers, and a baby shower cake that will have an Ann Geddes "flower with baby sleeping" as topper. I'll be posting them... 
i started dabbing with cake decorating when my kids were little, they're now in high school and college. i did all their cakes, but when my husband took one of my cakes to work...that's when i really got serious about it.
i still haven't been able to take any classes because we are military and move around a lot...so i've had to rely on tapes, books, and trial and error. when we finally settle down in two years, i am going to take tons of classes.
my favorite cake...i have so many...but my favorite would be the one i use for my avatar. i worked forever on that cake which i made for a friend's baby shower, that too is why it's so special! 
My Mom always did our cakes for our birthdays and made them as special as she could. She always used the Wilton Character pans...and a few other ideas *my fav is the pink "boom box" with candy decorations*. Once I had kids I decided that I had to do cakes for them, started with the character pans and had a great response. I made a cake for my dh's birthday and my friend said "If you can do that you can do my wedding cake" I just said, uh yeah, and then the obsession started. I wanted to make sure I did it right and it is still one of my favorite cakes, I will include the link.
But to pick a favorite is like picking my favorite child - just won't happen!
