Painting Glaze Black..any Suggestions??

What can I do to paint the glaze for my cookies in very dark colors that doesn't compromise flavor? I have to make ones that have too much black 
HELP ME PLEASE ?

I would start with adding in some cocoa powder to the mix to make it brown, then color it from there.
