Decorating By Pitchers_Bakery Updated 8 Apr 2009 , 4:12am by Pitchers_Bakery
I need help... is there anyone out there that has a tutorial on how to carve a car cake? Or even some great hints on how to do that? I am a little nervous im going to over cut or i don't know screw it up big time, and I just don't have the time nor the money to screw this one up. If anyone can help that would be great... I've probably carved one thing and that would have to be the tub in my bath time cake.
ANYONE????
There was a tutorial just the other day and it was for lightning mcqueen. But here is the link for it

I just bought a DVD from a cake show on how to do this. A custom car cake is very difficult becasue each is different. The guy started with a model car kit so he had a 3d image to look at. Also the car kit came with a diagram of the model car which cave the chef a "scale" to go by when cutting. This included the sides, top, back and front of the car. He enlarged the diagram to the size he needed then laminated them and cut them out. He placed each on the stacked rectangular cake and one at a time carved each section. I must say, the detail work he did and the time and amount of skill needed for a custom cake looked to be difficult and beyond my scope of cake making. Even with a two and a half hour, very instructional DVD it seemd challenging. Good Luck
Thanks i guess ill just have to cross my fingers and hope for he best... im carving a altezza... google it theres a ton of pictures... im nervous but we'll see! Thanks again
That is pretty cool!!! You could make the sideview mirrors out of gumpaste and paint the windows with silver pearl dust. Oh I am excited for you. I wish you the best and be sure to post pictures when you are done.
