I agree with you littlecake, I won't be buying it again. It's a great product but as I was looking at the nutritional values on the container. Wow, 190 calories per 2 Tablespoons. If I start eating that I won't fit throught my doorways. lol

Wow!! 190 calories per two tablespoons!!! That's a lot, but I believe peanut butter is about the same... and I'd much rather eat Nutella.

Yesterday I made cake balls with chocolate cake scraps and I used Nutella in the place of buttercream (some people use coffee creamer). I used vanilla candy melts to coat them.... OMG, it was so good!!! I imagine that using peanut butter with the chocolate cake scraps would be good too!!

I have been following this thread since it began. I had never eaten Nutella before and just had to find out for myself what it was like. The Kroger brand was much cheaper, but I figured for my first Nutella experience I had to splurge and go with the original. I just got home from the store and dug a spoon in it before I even got my groceries put away! OMG...It's DIVINE! I can't wait to try it out as a cake filling, but my question is this...It's more chocolately than I thought it would be. My original thought (before tasting it) was to mix it half and half with chocolate bc and use it as a filling with a chocolate cake. The hazelnut flavor is awesome, but I'm wondering if the chocolate in the cake, chocolate icing outside, half chocolate icing in the filling and the chocolate in the Nutella itself will overpower the hazelnut taste and it will just taste like a chocolate cake with chocolate filling and chocolate icing. Any thoughts? icon_smile.gif

PuffCake, I made a chocolate cake last week that I frosted with regular buttercream, then filled with Nutella mixed with a little of the buttercream. It was awesome -- people raved about it!!! I haven't tried it with chocolate frosting, but you could definitely taste the hazelnut in mine.

Also, can I just say that I'm always a day late and a dollar short?!! I can't believe that someone beat me onto YouTube with the Nutella song. icon_cry.gificon_wink.gif

Tell me about it. I am gluten-intolerant, casein -intolerant and am allergic to an ungodly number of foods. It's ridiculous. I am sooooooooooo going to copy your idea about the cake balls. Good Lord that sounds fabulous

AMy apologies for asking for your recipe of Nutella. I have only just happened across this post. I didn't mean to annoy. I understand you must have been totally swamped. I'll use the bought stuff. Happy baking:-D
