How Do I Get My Drapes To Stay Put?

I put drapes on a cake from one corner to the other on my dummy cakes. I had a couple boo boo's on my fondant that I was hoping to cover up so I really don't wan tto change the design right now. Anyway, I coudl not seem to get them to stay put. Two fell off...I was only adhering them with water, should I use RI?
Thanks for your help! these are for my open house this week.
