Thanks for sharing your tutorial. I can't wait to try these.
Do you think these cups here would work:

I am wondering if anyone else had the problem of the baked cupcake not fitting into the nutcup. I have the right wilton nut cups and I used a regular cupcake pan, but alas, it will not go together. These are the cutest thing and I would like to take a box to a friend who owns several movie theaters and very generously gives us free tickets for our silent auction in Dec.
I would also like to know if anyone has a link that would tell how to do the labels. I am very computer challenged so need lots of help. Thanks
I've made these cupcakes a bunch of times and I'm not sure if these liners would work - they look a little too tall. You will have to try the and report back!

One trick to making these right is *slightly* underfilling the cupcake liner with batter. Also, I have to push on them very slightly to get them into the nut cup. It's a tight fit, but they all fit well for me.
I make my labels using 'The Print Shop' for Mac. If you have this program, I will e-mail you directions. I downloaded a circus type font from one of those free font websites.

Would these cups here work:

There a little expensive but if you didn't have time to color your cups, this would be a nice alternative.
These look like nut cups someone has colored in with a red sharpie!
They look like they would work just fine.
Coloring the red stripes is very easy once you do a couple of them. I usually plop in front of my TV with my cups & red sharpies and catch up on my Tivo'd shows!

Thanks so much for the instructions. I am going to plan a movie night just so I can make these.
I've received such a huge response to the original popcorn cupcakes, that I wanted to provide some 'how to' information.
Here are the materials you will need:
- Mini-marshmallows
Scissors
Paint brush
Yellow coloring gel
Wilton Nut Cups
Regular cupcake liners
Sticky address labels
Red pen
Directions:
- Fill cupcake liners 1/2 full and bake as usual.
Using red pen, color every-other fold on the nut cups.
Create the popcorn label using your computer and sticky address labels - cut out.
Stick the label onto the nut cup liner.
After cupcakes cool, insert the cupcake (still in the regular cupcake liner) into the nut cup liner.
Ice cupcakes with thin layer of icing.
Cut a criss-cross pattern 1/2 way down the ends of the mini-marshmallows.
Stick the marshmallows into the icing.
Paint the tops with yellow gel coloring. I diluted mine on a wet paper towel.
DONE!!
Can you explain a little bit how to do the marshmallows?
gregus28,
Do you want to know how to cut the marshmallows, color them or both?
how to cut the marshmallows
The way I do it is just hold each mini marshmallow at one end and snip an X on the other end. Don't cut too far down, but not too shallow - you'll do enough of them to get the hang of it quickly!
If anyone has an easier way, please let me know.
Great idea and tutorial thanks! I'll hopefully get to make these for my friend's bridal shower
Thank you for sharing with us...I've been searching on google for an idea for my daughter's upcoming birthday. Told my daughter that this year we have to budget ourselve so I'm not get goodies instead we make something out of the box. My daughter is will be 6 years old loves to bake with me, so this idea is good for as goodies.....Thank you once again!
My 4 year old wants a carnival party for her birthday this year. I've been looking for ideas for a simple cake but still eye-catching. These are perfect and so creative! They should do the trick! Thank you!
fantastic. I think I saw them in a book somewhere. Either Hello Cupcake
or the other one wrote by the same author
I made these last year, and making them again this weekend for my daughters movie theme birthday party.
Instead of using food colouring, I got the multi-coloured mini marshmallows and used the yellow ones out of the package, bit of a time saver.
