Ok I am making a 4 tier cake. each tier is seperated from the other ones.

My question is how big the cake base need to be?
if the cakes are 6'', 8'', 10'' and 12''
the bases need to be 2 inches bigger or 4 inches bigger?

It is not a wedding it is a sweet 16 cake.

thanks for any help.

If it is a tiered cake, I would use 2 inches bigger. IMO more then that is too much and doesn't look good. I use the larger base for the bottom tier. HTH. Good luck!

Yes, as armywifebryan said......2 inches larger than each cake. The largest cake can go on one 4" bigger. It also should be thicker.
this is going to be a difficult cake to will be top heavy icon_sad.gif
