AHow long does ganache take to 'harden up' then? It's bed time and the cakes are cool, the modelling chocolate decs are ready to go, but the ganache is still bloomin' doing its thing!

ATiddy, I have to learn how to do flowers before August for a wedding cake trial (don't worry, they are paying for the trial cake regardless) - can you send some of your magic skills my way?

Also had an enquiry for a wedding cake with blood dripping down it for a divorce party today...?!! No idea how to do that without it looking cartoony...

ATiddy they look great!! Flowers are so tricky but really worth it when you get the hang or them.

Kuuushi, mmmm Turkish delight cakes? Seriously, you need to start sending us out some samples it think ;)

Owch Marvel hope that's not too sore! Good luck with the ganache, mine sometimes takes ages too, fridge or freezer normally works, I try and make sure I stir it regularly though so I don't get and setting on the top! Eeeww to a bloody cake though, some people are so strange!

AMarvel I whisk mine in a sink of ice to cool it down....... I mean the bowl is in the sink of ice.... Not me holding the bowl...... That's kinda like the "I saw a black sheep on the bus do day!" My dad always teased me about...... Lol

Night night everyone, off to dream about black sheep taking ice baths.... I think the pressure of two picture cakes for tomorrow has gotten to me! I thought they'd be easy but works been so nuts i've been tight on time :(

Hope those war wounds heal into good caking scars everyone! We will have to compare them at the cc erm....what's a reunion if we've never met before? :0/

ARight. Done. Look a bit rushed, but wanted them done to take to work tomorrow. A couple of my colleagues are having a rough few days with family stuff - so if all else fails, CHOCOLATE right? The ganache is lovely, but I'm not sure about this cupcake recipe. And will have to wait and see how the Mississippi Mud Cake adjusts to being torted and ganached when my colleagues get their hands on it...

Re the piping, it looks like a child did it - think I need some thicker nozzles. Something else to add to the shopping list...!

Marvel cakes look yummy, I bet your colleagues will love you today. That is sweet of you to make them cakes to cheer them up. Re the swirls have you tried using a closed star nozzle if you are then I would get a bigger one like you said.

Petitecat any news on your friend, hope she is ok.

Grey looking forward to seeing your picture cakes.

AMorning all! Oh man that ganache does nothing fort diet haha! Looked amazing marvel, really good!

Good luck with your pillow today Mel, let us know how it turns out!

Marvel look at getting the wilton tip 1M for icecream like swirls! A wilton 2D tip will give you sharper lines and more of a deeper swirl. Also you can do rose swirls with the 2D tip just start from the middle and swirl outwards for the rose effect! :)

Thanks ladies. My piping kit is a syringe set from John Lewis (wedding present). Great for fine lines and writing, not so great for swirls, roses, etc. Will add your recommendations to the ever-growing list... =)

AMarvel, that looks yum : )

I am off to work, i had a busy couple of days so was playing spectator again

Tonight I am filling and ganaching my daughters birthday cake. Is it okay to do that tonight if her party is on Saturday.

Also would anyone have any ideas on something nice I could fill it with, the fillings are my downfall at the mo! It is a lemon sponge cake!

AI never got on with a syringe set, much prefer a bog standard blue 21" piping bag that comes off a roll and a tip!

I now understand how the CC spending starts! Haha

Personally I would go for what I said obviously haha but those tips will cost you about 2-4£ online each. You could get the wilton set and the biggest one with all the tips which is the deluxe version is £50. Great if you do a lot of piping work! And a roll of 100 bags on amazon is £10

Let us know what your colleagues think of your cake marvel! :D

AMorning newstreet! Mmm lemon!

Why don't you put the same ganache in the middle? I have to say my favourite on a lemon cake is lemon drizzle but you could do a lemon flavoured buttercream?

AI thought I'd get some links cause everyone does that for me lol!

1M tip: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0057X25GM/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?qid=1402554566&sr=8-5&pi=AC_SX110_SY165

2D tip: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B004BPW3C8/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1402554671&sr=8-2&pi=SY200_QL40

For cupcakes I always use these! The only other one I use is the large plain to which in my other halves words, make them look like poos! Haha

Here it is anyway: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B007B1KFV0/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1402554914&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40

AThanks for your help, I will try that tonight, I have just lost confidence as I had only learnt Italian meringue buttercream which was going fine but the last two times"............ Scrambled eggs :(

I then tried Swiss, which floated in a a bowl back at me!!

If I do the ganache centre, do I change the ratio and whip it!
