Hi grandmaruth!!

I've never made a yarn ball before, but I think the best way to do it is this:

roll out a small ball of fondant...then, either roll out or put through a clay extruder long skinny strands of fondant.

moisten the small ball of fondant, and then wrap the skinny strand around it....

TADA.... at least I think!! icon_wink.gif

hehehee....

I have a cupcake book that just ices the tops with a round tip, a 5 or so. I think you could cut the bottoms of the cupcakes off and glue two tops together with icing, then ice the yarn on. You would have to place the balls where you want them before icing I think.
