Most of the ones I found when I did a google search were art deco...here's a great site to see some of the pics:

Yep, it sure was. I was thinking the exact same thing when I saw the title to your thread. Now that might not be what you originally asked meaning, what cakes looked like in the 20's, but it would surely be a great way to theme the cake.
