What Are You Making/baking For Easter??

By the way, does anyone have a recipe for fortune cookies?
Here's mine ... Hope you enjoy!
1c all-purpose flor
1/2c sugar
2 Tb. cornstarch
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2tsp salt
1/2c oil
4 egg whites
1 Tb. water
2 tsp vanilla
24 fortunes on 1/2 x 3 in paper strips
Heat oven to 300 - Combine first 5 ingr. Add next 4 - beat 1 min. Spread 1 Tb. batter into a 4" circle on greased baking sheet. Bake 12 mins.. Working quickly - set disk onto potholder and place your fortune strip in middle. Pinch cookie into a semi-circle around fortune. Crease into crescent with molding onto a cup rim . Place into muffin tin w/2 points down - until cool.
Makes 24

I won't be baking anything I'll be on a 17 hour car ride back home with 4 little kids. Sounds like fun doesn't it.

I'm always one of the designated bakers for the brunch table at church Sunday morning. They assign who does what so I don't know what I'll be making yet. All I know is I'm on dessert duty again. (last year I assigned cupcakes)
My boyfriend and I are going to be making our own homemade Peeps. Of course we'll still be buying a ton of them at the store too, but after Easter is over. One of our strongest bonds is our shared love of stale Peeps

If you put a handle you have a little basket.

Well,since I married into an Italian family keeping baking and cooking traditions going is very important. So every year I get up very early and make frittata it is about 3 inches thick and very rich...very old family recipe...has ricotta and other cheeses and just about every italian meat you can think of in it. To compliment it I bake Italian Easter bread...they call it (I am going to write it the way it sounds) Booba kalova. It has a litlle anice in it which I don't usually like but is very good in this bread, and is frosted with icing and topped with candy sprinkles. It's very tempermental to make and I have had to do up to 3 sometimes to get one right. When you shape the bread some shape it like a braided ring. Our family shapes it like the baby Jesus swathed and an egg is placed where his head would be to represent the father, son, and holy spirit. You bake it right in there. the bread is wonderful and My husband looks forward to it every year. I am told not to make it any other time per tradition. we usually have fresh fruit too. My DH's mother comes over to enjoy it in the morning then We are off to my family for easter egg hunting and more food....and I always get told to bring the dessert. LOL!

In advance you could knead some cornstarch into fondant and make some fondant ropes and lay them out in a "U" shape to dry. Or use candy clay. I think I would twist two ropes together and let dry really well. I place mine in a warming drawer at 150 degrees to dry out thoroughly.
You want to let the nests set up overnight for best results.
Y'know what else would be cute and easy-er? A fondant ribbon around the outside with a little bow--not a handle just tied with a ribbon like you would have a fondant ribbon trim around a cake--kwim?
