i have been doing cakes for 5 years and have NEVER dealt with cake dummies. I feel that i can ake a practice cake and my family or friends will be ecstatic that they get cake! (my dh likes cake tops the best!) At any rate, i need to get a couple of dummies for net month and THANK YOU daltonam for the dallas foam website! those are the best prices on dummies i have seen! my local cake shop wants $8 for a 10" round and $9 for a 12"! so, i'll have the dummies for next month and then my sons DI team can use them, if they want to! icon_smile.gif

I just counted the dummies for the purpose of this thread and I have 25 on show and 7 of them are 3 tiered! That's more than I would have guessed! However, they're renewed when they start to get really faded but I do have a couple that have been in my studio for over 2 years now and they still look okay! I just use plain water brushed onto the dummy to stick the paste. There's no bad smell or no sign of deterioration but then I don't have to argue with the sunshine like most of you do with me being in a cold rainy climate for most of the time...maybe that's why! My wedding cake with all the characters on it was a dummy and is still sitting pride of place in my window for everyone to see. I don't know that I'll ever be able to destroy that one even when the cobwebs set in!! icon_lol.gif

The reason for dummies is for display purposes, usually in a shop/business.

OMG, the dallas foam prices are AMAZING. If their shipping is decent, that's the best price I've seen EVER.

Thanks so much!
