I have found a yellow cake but now I need a white. I've searched on the boards but haven't been able to locate one. Please give me your best scratch WHITE recipes. THANK YOU, fellow cc-ers!

Google Sylvia Weinstock yellow cake --it comes out white.

I do not separate the whites & yolks. I use half the yolks called for.
I add the eggs in one at a time into the creamed sugar and butter.

This recipe is wonderful.

I do not chill it because it does not relax back to a nice mouth feel after coming back to room temp. It says stiff from the butter in there and it seems dry but it's not it's just the butter did not relax enough. (unless it's still uniced and you can microwave it.)

Great recipe. Yay for Sylvia!!

Thanks, Jan, for the links. I would love someone to respond about the recipes that they use and that they are successful. Thanks everyone!

I like the Rebecca Ratner cake, can't find the recipe at the moment though, and I have used the Vanilla cake by the mermaid bakery, both are fantastic. Many swear by serious cake's yellow cake which is also good. I have found that I just have to try different ones and then change things to suit what I want, it has taken me a while and still don't think I have it down to a T yet.
