I'm making a baby shower cake for Friday afternoon. The lady wants to pick it up On Thursday morning. Can I start baking today, or will it taste old by Friday?

It's fine. If I have a cake due on a Sunday, I always bake on Friday and decorate on Saturday. I don't think one more day is a biggie, especially if any fondant is being used. It helps keep it moist.

I would definitely start it today. I like to bake and make my icings on the first day, then decorate my cakes the second day, and deliver on the third day. That way you don't get to overwhelmed if things go wrong or you don't have to feel rushed. thumbs_up.gif

Oh goodness yes, I would start it today. Bake today, freeze, thaw tomorrow, frost and decorate (depending on what time she is picking it up on Thursday you can decorate that morning). You will be fine. I do it all the time.
