Forgot to add the mini wonder mold baby head peaking out. Now the hat,.... not sure. would that have to dry to long to work that way??

I was thinking the same thing charlieinMO... I think it was be way too much cake and I thought maybe I'd do some fondant cut outs on the bottom corner and then do the rope all around the edges.. what do you think? I appreciate any and everyone's input!! lol

I think that would be great. I think when you start doing it, the ideas will just kinda flow together. At least that's what I usually hope for when I start a cake LOL. Are you going to do the back ground or the main part of the cake blue to look like denim?

I think I'm going to do it more like a light sky blue ... she asked for a baby blue color on the cake .. I think I may tint the entire batch of fondant to cover the cake with a light blue .. what do you think?

Hi Cheryl! I am sure you have already started...but this is what I think. I like the idea of covering the cake in the light blue fondant. I also think you should go with the fondant cut-out idea. That might be easier than a 3-D boot. Anyway...I know whatever you do it is going to look great! I can't wait to see how it turns out. And since I am from Texas...who knows...I might get a request for something like it! icon_wink.gif

Hey Cheryl! I am thinking a big cookie cutter for the boot...if you have one! The baby's head you could probably use a circle. For the boot you may have to make your own pattern. I usually blow up an image that has simple lines...then it might not be too hard to cut out. Hope that helps...if I think of anything else...I will post it! icon_smile.gif

I have a few cookie cutters but not many so I think I'll enlarge the pic and cut it out, lay it on the fondant and cut one out like it and try it that way ..

wish me luck.. I don't know why, but this cake is making me nervous! lol

Here are a couple of links to some nice cowboy boot coloring pages I found:

I'm anxious to see how it turns out- sounds adorable!

Ok... here it is... now you'll notice at the right side towards the bottom of the rope border, it wasn't twisted right, but that was fixed and I have another pic of it on my regular camera at home lol .. these were taken with the digital camera and I didn't get another on after I fixed the "boo-boo"... The cake flavor was chocolate/chocolate chip ... it was covered with 2 layers of buttercream icing first .. then a powder blue color fondant was applied ... I traced out the picture (enlarging from the original) on fondant and then cut it out and pieced it all together... I cut stars in the same yellow color I used for the hair on the baby in the boot and placed them in the corners of the cake and randomly on top and the sides ... my husband kept coming in the kitchen and saying "that is the cutest little thing" when he'd look at the baby boy in the cowboy boot lol ... I had SOOOOOO much fun with this cake icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks for this cake design goes to all of you for the wonderful ideas you gave me for this cake... I just hope the lady that I did it for likes it .. I always get so nervous and worry about them liking my work ... all opinions and comments are welcome .. I do not mind constructive critcism at all .. it's the only way to improve icon_smile.gif thanks for looking!

Cheryl --

The cake looks AWESOME. SO CUTE. Outstanding job. I just love it. Too bad you can't take a picture of the lady's face when she first sees it. I bet she'll be thrilled.
