but wait -- a compass doesn't "spontaneously" exist.

who really had it first, and where did it come from?

There's another movie with a question like this. "Somewhere in Time" with Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour. It's a time travel movie and she gives him a watch ... and we ask the same thing ... when does the watch really get into his hands ... in today time or in back-then time?

At the risk of sounding a little to Hermione-Little-Miss-Know-It-All icon_smile.gif : From what I've gathered listening to the podcasts and reading Lostpedia, it's a combination of both. The major plot point and overall mythologies in play have always been mapped out. In the podcasts, they producers frequently mention the Adam and Eve skeletons, and how at some point we'll be able to look back and say "Oh, so they did know what was going on way back then!", or something to that effect.

But all the little stories along the way are sort of made up as they go. I read that Ben's character was originally only supposed to be in a few episodes, but they were so impressed with Michael Emerson and how he played Ben, they made him into the villan we all love to hate. icon_lol.gif

Can you imagine Lost without Ben?! icon_eek.gif

Edited to add: Good point on the watch deal Doug. I'm with bigsis, my brain hurts...

So many questions...so little shirtless Sawyer icon_lol.gif

Ok with that said, I have a little prediction of my own involvong the time travel....would'nt it be something if they somehow turn back the clock to where the crash never even happens? Yet the "survivors" will know all about it and have to live the rest of their lives knowing what could have happened?
Considering how many times they've jumped the shark this does'nt seem to far fetched?

WOOOWWW!!!!

I love this show so much. So this is young Danielle. They went (at least Jin did) way back in time.

Now it's making me think of how people thought to be dead or missing popped up in random places. Like Walt. And I wonder if this explains the whispering in the woods?

Ayy...brain.

Jin!!! party.gif

Poor Jin. He has not idea WTH is going on.

I'm excited for next week, hoping we get to FINALLY see Danielle's backstory.

I heart this show.

The whole John dead in LA, but not on the island has me a tad confused....are they just showing back story on the island of the last 3 yrs??

Is it me or is Sawyer looking like something the cat drug in this season?? I loved it when he saw Kate, can't wait for the reunion, and the whole Sawyer-Kate-Jack thing again.

Yeah Jin!!! I hope this means that Charlie is floating around somewhere, and maybe Boone???? They haven't mentioned him in a long time!

Now we can only wait till next week icon_smile.gif

My computer's been down, I finally get to put in my 2 cents of this episode!

I LOVED the part when they were in the canoe, and just before the flash, Sawyer yells, "Thank you Lord!" And then they're in the middle of a rain storm... "I take that back!" We rewound it and watched it over and over, it just struck me a hysterical.
When Sawyer saw Kate, I just wanted to cry. I'm more of a Jater (Jack and Kate) but, that scene was very touching.
Interesting to see everyone together on that dock or whatever. Just missing Hurley, although I still think Walt and at least Ji Yeon should have to go too. Oh, and Desmond?

He was part of Rousseau's science team that crashed on the Island. When she takes Jack and all to the Black Rock in Season One and they cross into what she calls The Dark Territory, she mentions it was where her team got infected and where Montand lost his arm.

It's kind of become a running joke between me and DH. Whenever something goes wrong (like last night when I dropped and broke a coffee mug), one of us will say, "and that's how Montand lost his arm". Yeah. We're weird like that. icon_lol.gif
