I'm considering using styrofoam cake dummies for my son's cake ,but have never done so before.
Two questions:
1. Would you need to use royal icing to attach fondant to the dummies?

2. Also, if I'm making a stacked, three-tierd cake, how do I decide which tier should be the dummy, top or bottom? Maybe it depends on the amount of servings you need?

Thanks!!

I would use either buttercream, or if you want to go easy, brush some alcohol on the dummy.

I would decide how many servings you need to provide, yes.

I tried to put some fondant on a dummy the other night with clear piping gell...yuch! What a mess...next time, water...like I did before..geez.
