You guys are so great!! I feel odd talking to coworkers about my weight loss but I get so excited I can't help it. They seem supportive but it's almost with an air of, "Can't you just shut up about it? We'd all love to lose it, but we can't and you are." I know they probably don't think that, but it's gotta get annoying. icon_wink.gif

Anyway, I totally won't forget about you guys when I'm done with weight loss. Once I lose the next 5, if I still am losing, I'd like to drop another 10 to get me to 135 (a size EIGHT!). After that, I'm sure I'll need support to keep it off. It's one thing to lose it; it's a whole other ball game to keep it off and I recognize it.

*hugs to everyone*

Be aware...weekends can be dangerous! Prepare!

Jade I know exactly what you mean. I KNOW that I annoy people when I talk about watching my calories and how much I've lost or didn't lose, etc. You can just tell when they've heard enough and then I shut up. That's why it's so great being with you guys. We can talk about it all we want and not bother anyone. We can all relate to each other and wow does that make a difference. I just LOVE it here!!!
Ok, so today I'm going to be tested for sure. Please wish me luck. I've only been back on track for 11 days and I don't wanna screw it up. Today is my birthday and all of my relatives are encouraging me to go out and celebrate. Well, we all know that the word "celebrate" can be pretty dangerous for some of us. So, not to hurt anyones feelings, I am going to go. Now I just need to stay strong and choose only foods that are good for me and low in calories. I may have a cupcake with no icing. That actually sounds good. That way I won't feel deprived and it won't be as bad as a full slice of cake with all the trimmings. Yep, that will work. If I had been on the straight path longer than I have, I wouldn't be as concerned. Anyway, tomorrow is weigh in day and I'm really anxious to see how I've done for the week. I think it was a good one.
OK, everyone have a great day and watch those goodies during the superbowl. Talk to ya all tomorrow......

Happy Birthday Margie! Hope you had a great day.

My parents had a Super Bowl Party today, and there was a whole table of food! I did help prepare a lot of it, so I tried to make more healthy options for me. And I didn't over do it too much. It has been a crazy weekend that passed way to quickly. Now I'm working on the healthier mind set to start my week off with.

My goal this week, is simply to get back on track, once again. icon_smile.gif

OK, ladies. I'm through hemming and hawing. I've let that whole "crud" thing throw me and I'm through. I've been eating junk until I'm literally feeling sick of food. Also, the scale that has been relatively steady took a nasty jump in the wrong direction this week.

So, I have been reading how well all of you are doing, staying on track and jumping right back on and it has truly been inspiring. I went this weekend and got a mani/pedi/brow wax as a symbol of my new start. I am reaffirming this year as the year for me to get me healthy and happy with myself.

I recorded my weight, icon_cry.gif got out my food journal, and am eating breakfast while I type (a huge step for me).

Thanks to all of you for sharing. As has been said, it is truly comforting to know that there is a place we can come for support and commiseration and not worry that we're talking about it too much.

Welcome to all the new folks. Congrats for all the successes. Hang in there to all of those struggling. Have a great week!

Hugs to all - GO CHUNKY MONKEYS!!!!!

So sad on the scales today--even though I'm eating right, no lbs. lost--darn it!! Oh well-I still need to get moving and drink more water! Way to get going Stacy!!! I've been journaling too and trying to stop and think, "Why am I wanting to eat now--I'm not hungry, what am I looking for......comfort, etc......gotta stop my emotional eating because that's what has gotten me to this weight for sure!!!

Well somehow I got off the "watch this topic". So I'm back again. Today is monday I'm checking in.

My plan is to actually make it to school on Wed, drink enough water, eat 3 meals a day and get my sample cakes done.

If I have time after all that then I"ll finish laying the bricks for the flower bed. Although the cold has made that project less than appealing.

To those that asked where I find the monkey pictures.... well.... I'd tell you but then I wouldn't have my secret cute stash anymore. =)

Monkey cake anyone?

Hey everyone. Sorry I wasn't able to get on yesterday. I watched my grandson and kept pretty busy. Thanks so much Tracy and Janel for the birthday wishes. It was a really good day, thank you.
Stacy it sounds like you are really in the right mind frame and this week is gonna be your week. I've always recorded my food intake and at first, I tell ya, I was sooo surprised at how fast those calories added up. I had no idea I was consuming so many calories in what I thought were probably "not so bad" foods. Geeesh, was that an eye opener.
Janel, Congrats on the 2 lb weight loss, that's GREAT!! It really is good to see that scale on your side again, isn't it?
Deb - for some strange reason, I too am having a problem getting booted off of the "watch this topic". I don't know what causes that. That monkey cake is so adorable.
As for my weight loss this past week, I can't complain at all. I was pleasantly surprised to see that I had actually lost 2 weeks in a row. Monday before last I lost 5.6 lbs and yesterday I had lost another 3.4 pounds. So with a 9 pound loss in 2 weeks I've gotta say I'm pretty thrilled. I've kept to 1200 calories a day and walked every day but one. Now I would be extremely surprised if I lose anything this week no matter how hard I try but if not, I can live with that. I'm going full steam ahead!!!! I've got 15 pounds to go to reach my goal weight of 130. I think I can, I think I can. NO, I KNOW I CAN and YOU CAN TOO!!!!!! Have a great day everyone. Stay warm, it's coooooold out there today.

Hello all.. I have been watching this thread for a little bit and I would like to join you. I started Jan 19 on the Prism Diet. It's basically 1200 calories no sugar or white flour products. This is the longest I have ever stuck with something and it's showing! As of this morning I'm down 9lbs. icon_smile.gif My short term goal is 20lbs but all together I would like to lose about 60. I just need the extra support to help me get through this! Thanks and I look forward to this challenge with you guys!

Hi everyone,

I lost one pound last week. I guess it's better than gaining! I realllly need to get out and exercise more. The snow and bad weather just make me want to sit in front of the TV or computer under a blanket and do nothing. Like today! It's snowing, and I had planned to go to the gym while my kids were in school, but now I have to wait and see what's going to happen with school.

I'm doing a half-marathon on May 3, so I will be running at least 4x/week for the next few months, so that better help! I know it will. Most of my eating is done because I'm stressed or depressed, and running helps me greatly with those issues.

Have a great day everyone!

Michelle

WELCOME sunflower!!! Congrats - 9lbs!!! awesome!!! keep up the great work!!!

Michelle - I feel your pain - its not snowing here (florida), but its cold (for florida) and I just want to cuddle under the blanket on my big butt!! I'm not allowed to work out and that is how I have always lost my weight in the past!

I'm also a boredom eater, stress eater and depression eater - basically, I'm just an eater! haha!! I have to really think about it and listen to my body and only eat when I'm hungry! I ask myself - are you really hungry? sometimes the answer is yes and sometimes it sounds more like - no, I'm just bored and suddenly I don't want to eat, I want to find something to do instead.

Good luck girl! can't believe your doing a marathon! amazing!!! you rock!

Nice to have you here!!
Michelle - Congrats on your weight loss this past week as well!!! I'm so sorry that the weather isn't cooperating with you today. That's a bummer. I can't wait until it gets warmer. I walk the treadmill everyday but it sure would be nice to get out and feel the sunshine on my face. All in good time, I guess. I just saw a few snowflakes hit my window. Guess it will be a bit longer. icon_lol.gif

I forgot to tell y'all about a great diet food I discovered last week. You know Thomas' bagels? They make something called Sandwich Thins. They look like a pita, but when you get them out of the package the look like a squished sandwich bun. They have 100 calories, 1 gram of fat, and 6 grams of fiber. That comes to only 1 Weight Watcher point. They are filling, and tasty! Put them in the toaster with both pieces still together, and they get all steamy and yummy, and it really fills you up.

Hey all!!! I'm still holding steady at 150, but that's ok. I just need to continue replacing "bad" carbs with healthy ones.

I asked DH the other day what he'd give me if I got down to 135 (10lbs lighter than my goal of 145) and he said, "I have to give you something?"

YES! As I said, "If I lose that much weight, I'll need to replace my entire wardrobe. I haven't been that thin..well, since I graduated college."

He said he'd think about it. icon_wink.gif It's motivation for me to increase my activity.

But all in all, I'm staring at that last 5lbs and daring them to mess with me. icon_biggrin.gif

Awesome Michelle. Thanks for sharing that information. I'll be on the lookout for them. I just ordered a new book that I'm hoping will be helpful. It's put out by America's Test Kitchen and it's called "The Best Light Recipes" It sounds exactly like what I've been looking for. They take a recipe and tweak it and tweak it until it's the best it can be. This is great because so many times when you try to reduce calories and or fat in a recipe, it just doesn't turn out very well. This way they've done all the work for you and they let you know which items were able to be substituted with success and what didn't work. Can't wait to get it in.

Deb-you are funny! LOVE the monkey cake...is it yours or from your secrest stash!?
Sunflower8-WELCOME! Sounds interesting, your prisim diet...good luck!
Michellenj-hmmm...Sandwich Thins sound like fun...I try and avoid anything that looks or kind of tries to fake the comfort foods I love, pizza, bagels yada yada yada...the reason being I will end up craving the actual a whole lot more, so it works for me to totally avoid the like. But this one sounds harmless..
As for my check in - so I am late, somehow Tuesdays work better for me-day off- No progress on the scale, nothing up and nothing down..GRRR THE PLATEAU!!!!! I am taking a break this week, or rather for 2 weeks, everyone I spoke to seemed to echo the sentiment, the body seems to have gone into starvation mode and the only way out is to eat normal, read..no Pizza(!) but just sensible, homemade, wholesome foods...that way once again I can rev. up the metabolisim and then when I go back to 80 carbs and 1200 calories, the weight should start falling again.
In order to avoid going totally overboar, I am still sticking to my diet BUT more generous with portions and indulge in the occasional extras through the day...seems like an awful amount of food since I am so used to counting every little morsel that goes through the mouth...please keep your fingers crossed.
Meanwhile, you ladies are doing a splendid job...9lbs!! wow...So hang in there everyone, spring is around the corner and we all have to be in great shape for the summer...GO CHUNKYS!!!!!

Am I too late to join the chunky monkey club?

I was always pretty active with lifting weights, walking and biking but after I had my kids (2 and 5) and returned to work for 40 hours a week, I went downhill... In May, 2008 I weighted 207 lbs and I am 5'6 turning 30 at the end of this month.

Our community is a small one and is putting off a Lifestyle Challenge so I have been doing that, I've started running again and am lifting weights. I also walk to work (55 minute walk) at least 3 times a week. I am down to 180 now and continuing to lose weight! I feel that I have a healthy heart, lungs, and eat well and exercise well so at some point my body weight just has to catch up to these things!

My short term goals are to run a 10 mile road race at the end of July and to reach the weight of 170 (for now!).

Thanks for this club, I'm looking forward to celebrating all of our successes together!!

I honestly can't remember every being lighter than 160lbs when I was at my fittest. At that time I was in university, lifting weights 3 times a week, swimming 45 minutes five times a week, and walking to and from school daily (about 30 minutes each way)! That's why my current goal weight of 170 seems sensible to me! icon_smile.gif

Welcome Katherine, Michelle and Sunflower. It's never to late to hug a monkey! Or was that be a monkey, or join a monkey. The point is, we're happy you found us.

The monkey cake is from the stash. But I have friends whose baby is turning 1 in march. They love monkeys so I might have to borrow the design.

I was bored last night and baked brownies. Not such a bad idea except now I have a pan of brownies and I'm the only one home. I'm half considering decorating them up and taking them to the fire department. The problem with that is they aren't so tasty. The sugar I have is not very refined and the brownies have a grainy sugary texture.

Weigh in is tomorrow. Go MONKEYS.

Oh yeah I just checked google to find out what the plural of monkey was. And this is what I found. Number 8 is particularly appropriate for our group. We don't want to be #8.
