Hi guys and hope you had a lovely Christmas im just about to have a lovely boxing day dinner but just had to post this!!
My best friend bought me Lindy Smith's Celebrate with a Cake book and I just made the cheeky baby in blanket and it turned out great (even if i do say so myself!) im so pleased, this is the first thing ive ever made that ive been completly happy with! the hard part was the blanket, i made it too thick so it didnt drape great but its fine!
Ps in my hurry to get it done and photographed i didnt let it dry and broke off the fingers - lol just as well its a practice. also the scouring pad i used makes it look like the fondant is cracked so i might try a different one.
Well done!! isn't it a good feeling when you see the end product?
makes you all excited to do another!!
Merry Christmas and enjoy your boxing day dinner....
Thanks everyone, i cant stop going into the kitchen to look at her!! im just so relieved as i have a male figure with grey hair to do for end january and i was really worried i would be able to get a nice face! im going to have a go at making him soon and then just store him for the big day
I'm just curious -- how long did it take you to make her? I've never used fondant before, and it just looks so time consuming to me. She's absolutely adorable, though, so was well worth however long it took!!!
she didnt take long at all! i had the gumpaste already made up and matured overnight and i just followed the instructions using a ruler for measurements and assembled her pretty quickly - less than an hour. the blanket actually took the longest as i had to roll and reroll it 3 times before it would sit right but definitly not as time consuming as i would have though and im a slowcoach!! give fondant a try, its amazing!
