I really want to get better at carving cakes. There is a market here for 3D cakes and I want to take advantage of it.

I have done a couple of carved cakes but it is kind of hit or miss. So, I am wondering if anyone has any tips, suggestions, books, or ideas so that I can improve.

I know I will have to practice but it seems there should be a way to approach carving, like a logical sequence to it.

Thank you.

Roland Winbeckler has a book about 3D carved cakes. You might check it out. I don't think it's very expensive.

I have just sent for the book mentioned, It looks good. My treat to myself for Christmas (among other things that the heavy hints have not worked with). But I'm sure to get something special because of the love and thought thats gone into it. Don't you just love this time of year?
