Ri Stamp Technique Tutorial

ALright,
So its not the best, but considering I didn't really have to do this, here goes!
I found some cheap ($1.5) acrylic frames at AC MOORE, but you can get em at WM too... cheaper..
I spread my BC out so it could crust.
I printed off the images I liked, and slid them into the frame. If you use a letter, print the reverse! I didn't do that and half way through I went oh dang! But since its just a practice, whatever ![]()
Then I just made some realllllly stuff RI and traced the design.
Then I sprinkled with PS and pressed the image in like an impression mat.
It worked...except I didn't wait long enough and some of my RI came off in the stamping process.
I would also use a thinner tip and let it dry a lot longer. I waited about 15 min... I'm impatient!
I would also let me BC crust longer. Though it was kinda unstiff to begin with.
Sorry so rushed, I am on my way out the door! I'll update with more as I figure it out![]()

sorry the pictures are coming up in the reverse order!
Thanks so much for that. I always wanted to know how to do that.
Very cool!!!! Thanks so much! I can't wait to give it a try!
That's really cool. Thanks for the pictures!
Oh, just tried it after letting my BC and RI dry more, and it works sooooooo much better.
I used a tip 4 and really think a 2 would be better because the icing spreads and the lines were pretty deep.
Good Luck, I will post pictures of the final scroll work
I am soooo stoked to see what I can do with this ![]()
Thanks to everyone who advised me![]()
I was wondering if you could use this idea to make a design on a cookie by dipping it into some food coloring and placing on iced and dried cookie??
You are a genius. Using the frame makes it so easy to keep the image in the acryllic. I love this forum.
I will try this when I need to do writing or more detailed piping work.
Thanks
just _ for_fun,
I think the food color might melt the RI...eventually? I really have no idea. sorry!
sillywabbitz--Genius...rotfl. I am far from it...
i'm still experimenting..
trying to figure out how to make the RI not flake off.....
gel food coloring w/ alcohol? Will try the next time I make RI. That's the only way we can find out!
Hi Rocketgirl899,
Great idea! Thanks for sharing it. BTW, is it reusable? Would I be able to impress the cake multiple times?
Thanks!

Thanks!
I was thinking the same!
, even if I wanted to I know I'm going to brake them, I always brake my RI when I try to store it
no matter how careful I am with it ![]()
Alright you guys,
so tonight I remade my stamp because the first one broke.
This time i thinned my RI alil. Thinking it would spread onto the plastic and adhere better. It was I guess "soft peak" stage.
I used a tip 1.
It dried faster than before ( I did it last night to give it planty of time to dry.)
Also let my cakes crust for a really long time.. i think about 2 hours.
Impressions came out well. I still need to AB then pipe over the scrolls.. I am nervous!
I used the stamp 5 times in a row, held up fine. You need to be most concered with not twisting the acrylic.
As for saving for a later use, you could try, but I don't know if I would trust it enough to not have a backup.
It might would on fondant that is freshly covered...? I have no idea.
I will post pics of the cake by sunday![]()
lOVE THIS IDEA. THINK I'LL HAVE TO TRY IT WITH MY HARVEST CAKE I'M MAKING TONIGHT.
Thank you![]()
I spent MANY hours on it so it is so nice to hear such nice things from the CCers!
