Cracking Buttercream

Can anyone tell me why my buttercream always cracks after I get it smooth?

Could be several reasons.
If you post the recipe we can advise better. Maybe it needs more shortening or butter.
Maybe you need stronger bottom board - like double your boards OR get masonite.....

I was going to guess that the bottom board isn't strong enough.
