Is rolled icing more like fondant than buttercream as far as taste and texture?

Actually, there is a difference. Look for the recipe for rolled BC and then for a recipe for Marshmallow Fondant. They're both applied the same way, but rolled BC is not stretchy.

Yes, fondant and rolled buttercream are two different icings.

However, when one hears the term "rolled icing" it refers specifically to fondant.

How can I avoid my fondant of cracking when I put on my cake ??
