I made the cake for the 80's party a couple of weeks ago...not without being a pain in my butt first - LOL! The person I was making it for had canceled the party and said she was planning on having it the following weekend but would call me back ahead of time and let me know. She forgot to call me and I found out she wanted to make the cake at 8:30pm the night before the party. I ended up doing a half a sheet cake with 2 9" round cakes decorated like Pacman and Ms. Pacman. I didn't post it because I really really rushed it and I don't think it is my best work. Everybody at the party loved it though and my friend that ordered the cake called me the next day and raved about how good it was. It all worked out in the end, but I hate making last minute cakes. Having said that, I got an order this afternoon at 2:00 to make a cake for him to pick up first thing tommorow morning. I better get to work!! Thanks for everyone's great ideas!!
This might be an old topic but I love the 80s so here are a few ideas...a Mixed basket of 80s candies like the burger gum--no one remembers that one but I loved it--and pop rocks or Reggie Bars. How about Album covers. I think Duran Duran's Rio would make an awesome nostalgia cake and yes, I plan to make one for a party someday. LOL! Or you could do a traditional cake with a person and use 80's fashions like leg warmers and the torn sweatshirt, off the shoulder look. Anything neon or those rainbow shirts that were big. Even a baby shower safety pin beaded like a friendship pin would be fun.
Sure you've made it by now but thought I would through these ideas in.
