Is the icing cracking when you move the cake? You may need to put it on a thicker cake board.

Probably as lynnscakes said. Depending on the size of the cake you might need up to 3 boards glued together OR buy cake drums.
Another factor might be that you need a bit more shortening/butter in the recipe.
