How on earth do I make red fondant? The cake stores near me only sale Wilton Red (yuck!) and I need red fondant for Sunday? Any tricks? I've added a ton of red coloring to my fondant and it's just bright pink. Help!!!!!
Hi!!! I had the same problem!!
But, if you add a little of yellow, the 'pinky' red becomes a bright red!
This trick has worked for me.
GOOD LUCK!!!

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, it just turned mine orange. GRR...I hate red!
Anyone else have any tricks?
Make your own.
Either Marshmallow Fondant or Michelle Fosters (my favorite recipe) and add the red gel color - darker than you think you will need - while it's still in the liquid stage. Works like a charm! ![]()

If you can also get your hands on Fondarific fondant, they have a red in buttercream, vanilla, and cherry flavors.
