I didn't get some cookie cutters cleaned and out of the sink fast enough and now they have rust on them. Are they a loss? Or is there any hope?

Just take a scouring pad and scrub the rust off. No problem.

Coat the rust with vegetable oil. Let them sit for a while or overnight and then scrub- it should come off fairly easily.
