Does anyone have ideas on how to make a stork for a baby shower cake??? I was given a pic from charmcity cakes but I tried to make the stork out of fondant and it was WAY too heavy...it would just fall over on a cake! Any ideas??

How big do you need the stork to be? I just made flamingos out of fondant by molding the body and letting it harden a little and with a knife cutting a feathered wing into the sides and a feathered tail on the back and letting it harden all the way. I shaped the head, neck and beak out of another piece of fondant and let it harden then painted the beak and eyes on with paste food coloring in almond extract. When I formed the head/neck I flattened the end of the neck where it would attach to the body and when both the head/neck and the body were hardened, I attached them together using pink candy melts and put in the fridge just til the candy hardened. I think at the same time I was cutting the feathers, I stuck a pretzel stick in the bottom of it for legs. Just before putting on the cake, I dipped the pretzel leg into pink candy melts and put in the fridge til it hardened. Worked really well and was very cute.

The 2005 Wilton yearbook has standing storks made out of royal icing. The legs are lollipop sticks.

Do you have that yearbook? If not, I could send you the directions.
