How To Make A Car Cake Shiny????????

I am making a red ferrari car cake, how do you make the car shinny? Any advice?

If you are using fondant and don't have any commercially made "shine" products you can use a light coating of shortening (just rub it in) or a spritz of Pam or something similar...

Test it on a piece of scrap fondant and see if it gives you the desired effect.

I've thinned down light corn sryup with vodka and painted it on. It may take two or three coats to get the desired shine, just let it dry between coats. icon_biggrin.gif

Also, I add pearl luster dust to the mixture.

If it is fondant it could be a simple as brushing on water to make it shine.
Nothing wrong w/the other suggestions except I think they will leave the cake sticky.

If it's fondant, you can brush it with confectioners glaze.
