How Do I Store A Cake......?

I want to make a cake for my daughter's 2nd bday and the filling and icing say to keep cake in the fridge, but i want to cover in fondant too. I have put fondant cakes in the fridge before and the fondant gets sticky and kinda wet. Is it safe to leave the cake out for a day? The filling has raspberry and cream cheese and another one has pineapple and cool whip. Any advice?

I would say yes the raspberry one could be left out for 1 day and no to the cool whip one. Cool whip, if left out will definitely turn to liquid, spoken from experience on this one, unfortunately icon_cry.gif

You can frig a cake covered in fondant. Yes, as you said it will get sweaty and sticky but if left alone for several hrs it will dry up.
If you live in a very humid area it will take longer. Put a fan in front of it; that will help.
