I wanted to know if anyone knows if Sugarshacks recipe for buttercream crusts or not. I mean can you use the Viva paper towel method on it to smooth it?

Yes it crusts. Very nicely! Her dvd is excellent on using great methods to smooth it out! I use Viva on it, just like in her video icon_smile.gif

I recommend her DVD too! It's great for giving you step by step instructions for icing the cake and getting it really smooth!

Yes, it crusts very nicely. Just used it for a wedding cake this week. I'm in Southern Illinois and the humidity was high this week. It crusted very quickly. I use the Melvira method to smooth so I'm sure the Viva papertowel would work fine too. I think I remember Sharon (Sugarshack) saying that she uses paper (like copy paper) to smooth hers. This icing is great! I'm never making any other buttercream.

It does help if once you are finished mixing it to put plastic wrap over the bowl and let it sit for an hour.
