I heard that adding sour cream to when making a scratch cake keeps it moist and keeps the cake soft. Is this true?

I use sour cream with box mix to make a really moist cake... so I'd say yes for scratch too...

Yes, check out the famous WASC on this site (theres great variations if you are into cake mix extender recipes). Scratch cakes are great too with sour cream.

Thanks guys for the advice and receipes. I will try my receipe with the sour cream added and try some of the other receipes listed.
