Well, the parts that aren't cake are Bettercreme, if that's what you mean! It's not just a pile of two colors of Bettercreme. Hehehe.

Melvina you should seriously think about putting your bettercream recipes in print. I'll buy a copy. Great looking cake. The banana coconut sounds devine.

Thanks steplite!!! thumbs_up.gif

No, Baysmeme, once the cakes are iced they are fine on the counter for up to 5 days. (Or so the carton says!)

Teacher Melvira I have an update for you.
I'M IN LOVE WITH BETTERCREMEEEE!!!! and I promisse to be faithful until 'death do us apart' lol, lol, icon_smile.gif....
Please excuse my excitement, but I just made the best looking cake thanks to you and Bettercreme....but please keep in mind that I'm still a begginer icon_redface.gif so, in my world, this is my best looking cake.
----Thank you Teacher/Bettercreme-Guru Melvira---- thumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gif
I followed your instructions faithfully and added a box of vanilla pudding and not only it gave it the perfect consistency but it came out delicious thumbs_up.gif Also, I was afraid to add fondant decorations since you said that bettercreme doesn't get along with fondant, but I thought I'd give it a try and guess what?? the decorationgs didn't melt!!! ahhhh, I was so excited...here's is my cake.
It's a 3 leches cake, with strawberries and bettercreme filling and fondant accents that never melted icon_smile.gif ---I also made 2 little fish to go in the pool, but forgot to add them before I took the picture.

Oh Rosie, that cake can hold it's own against any pro!! You officially cannot call yourself a newbie anymore!! thumbs_up.gif IT IS AWESOME!!!

As for the fondant... you can add some simple decorations (as you found out) but it is not suggested for fully covering the cake with fondant. I have not tried it, I'm just going by what I've read.

I am so thrilled with your success, and that you've fallen in love with Bettercreme. I fell for it the very first time I used it, and now, we are inseperable!! It's not a crush, it's true love! icon_lol.gif

Well, I see the Bettercream crew is still whipping it up.. icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif You know, when I lived in California whipped cream was very popular for icing on wedding cakes (and other cakes too)... I iced lots of cakes using it, but now that I moved back to the South, almost no one here uses it icon_confused.gificon_surprised.gif It's a region thing I guess.... anyway, I still use it, but mostly for cupcakes, and as an ingredient.. Thought you all might be interested in some of their other products http://www.richs.com/product_info.cfm?catid=6159 I use the Whip Topping, in a can, frequently too. It's a lighter cream, more like real whipped cream. I like it because it is less sweet (diabetic), but it is not as stable as bettercream. Rich's site used to have recipes on their site, but I see they don't anymore... bummer icon_sad.gif
This is a great thread! Ok, back to your mixers ladies.. and gents.... icon_lol.gif

I finally found a Smart and Final. They have Pastry Pride in vanilla and right next to it they have Bettercream in chocolate. My question is...do these items I ice with this cream (icing and filling) need to be refrigerated?

I did not read all the posts as there are tons. So forgive me if somebody else already asked this. Where did you get those cupcake boxes? i have never see those before and they are great.
