Can I Use Duncan Hines Cakes With Fondant?

I have only made super dense cakes for covering in fondant but I much prefer lighter fluffier cakes. Has anyone covered a white DH cake with fondant? Does it work or will the cake collapse with the weight of the fondant? Thanks very much!

Yes, I have. Usually I use Betty Crocker but have used DH once or twiceicon_smile.gif It did just fine.
Make sure you roll it out - I think it's - 1/4" thick....the thickness of a cake circle/cakeboard. Any thicker & you could have some prob lems.

Thanks so much for your reply! The Betty Crocker Butter Pecan cake is our favorite and I didn't want to sacrifice not making it for the sake of fondant!! I'm happy now icon_smile.gif

I only use Pillsbury and I use bc and fondant all the time. They work great. Check out my photos.

I do! I always make sure the cake is well chilled first though, to kind of firm it up a bit. You should be fine.

It always works great for me! I don't chill mine so either way would work would be my guess!

I always use DH and I never do anything special to the cake before I put the fondant on. Never even crossed my mind before.

I think that DH cake works just as well as any other type with fondant i use Dh cake and have no problems
