No, you do not normally put icing on them.

Its so funny you bring this up, I just made them for the first time this weekend. The book I used mentioned nothing of icing, and after tasting them I would agree to not put anything on them.
And on a personaly note they didnt really blow my skirt up. My mom said they tasted good but i didnt really like them, to each their own lol!
