I've been decorating cakes as a business for almost two years now. I'm finding that because I now know all the little things that can go wrong with a cake, or create a problem (i.e., air bubbles, soft icing, cracking icing) with a cake that I'm getting more and more stressed. I'm a good problem solver and tend to be more optismistic than pessimistic, but I'm finding myself "dreading" the next cake problem and wondering if it will be too big to fix. In other words, imagining the worst case scenario. It's taking the joy out of making cakes for me, especially wedding cakes. I love working with young couples and really feel that's what I'm supposed to be doing, but don't know how long I can handle the stress.
Any suggestions?
Thanks so much.
Karen
Ease up on the perfectionist attitude, it sounds like me you have one! And realize you are living the problem by worrying about it even before it hits you. Take care!
