I have cakes baked and in the freezer for DS's birthday - the party is this Saturday. It's a 3D Elmo bust (shoulders cake, head and arms RKT) on top of a 2 layer 13x9. There will also be blocks made out of cake that spell my son's name...

I was planning to fill tomorrow morning, ice tomorrow evening and put it all together and decorate on Friday... But I CAN'T WAIT! I really want to start on it today. I am so excited to see how Elmo turns out, and I know pulling his fur will one one of the last steps. I am just so excited about this cake.

Maybe I'll just do the blocks today. I'm going to carve them from a cake I made in a loaf pan so that they are all connected (but staggered). I didn't want to have to deal with 5 sides of 1.5" blocks of cake. Thought that would be a crumby, crumbly mess!

Have you ever been so excited about making a cake that you just couldn't wait???
