At walmarts DH and BC .98 a box very limited flavors and not always in stock. At the local grocery store, they run from 1.79 to 2.19 with a wide variety of flavors in stock. The grocery will run a great sale from time to time and they can run anywhere from .70 to 1.00 on sale.
I only use Betty Crocker cake mixes as I feel they are more studier than DH. Anyway, I buy them where they are the cheapest. They don't go on sale very often, but when they go on a really good sale, I can get them for $1.00 to $1.49. That's the cheapest they get here in Alberta. I don't understand why things are so much cheaper in the US especially when our dollar has caught up a bit.
Superstore: $1.79 to $1.99
Walmart: $1.89
Sobey's/Save-On/Safeway: $2.99
Here in Southern NH, on the MA line, prices vary greatly around here.
Hannaford supermarket in my town: DH $1.69 BC $1.39 ea
Shaws supermarket in next town: DH $3.69 ea
BJs Wholesale DH $4.99 for a 6-PACK (3 gold, 3 choc)
($0.83 ea)
That's the only 6-pack they have at BJ's so I have to buy other flavors from the grocery store.
I live in Michigan, and shop at Meijer. This week they have Pilsbury cake mix - "Buy 10 for $10.00 and get the 11th one Free." (11 mixes for $10.00 = about 91 cents each) I loaded up on chocolate and white mixes today. The Meijer store brand cake mix is decent too, and it's only 84 cents a box. I have people asking me all the time how I make my cakes so moist. I have no secret. I stopped using Duncan Hines because it falls apart when I make larger cakes. Other than that I just buy whatever mix is on sale and stock up on it.
