Did the Cake Room people not give you a ticket with a number on it for you to retrieve your cake?

I remember in Nebraska that I had to show something and someone escorted me to my cake so I could pick it up.

That's a real shame. I guess whoever did that has REALLY soft pillows on their bed so when they lay their head down, they can sleep.

SHAME ON YOU, DISPLAY THIEF!!!

No, this was the demonstrators display and it was set up in the hallway of the convention. They were not in the cake room.

You know, I am such a "dweeb".

It occurred to me while eating dinner with hubby that you meant the demo display table. Duh!!!

Apparently, I spoke (typed) before my brain was engaged.

OMG, I cannot believe this happened......and at Convention. Hopefully, since your pieces were stolen from the hallway, maybe it wasn't a conventioneer but someone passing through. It was open to the public all the time.

On another note, I just showed my DH your pictures and he said I should give up making cakes and start making real art like those. icon_sad.gif I like decorating cakes!!! I wish I could have taken your demo but I really really thought it was out of my league. Maybe next year, huh?

Not true. This is a simple process. You would be surprised!

beautiful teacup!! icon_biggrin.gif Your DH is officially in the Doghouse! icon_wink.gif

And also, In all fairness to ICES, they stated to have all displays picked up by 7pm and I got there a little after 7pm. icon_rolleyes.gif So I have to take some responsibility here icon_wink.gif . I made the mistake of assuming that I could take the display directly from the hallway to the Night of Sharing which started at 8pm. But, I should have come by 7, packed it all up, taken it up 5 floors to my room, then brought it down less than an hour later for the Night of Sharing.
Seemed a bit impractical to me... Oh Well... I will know better next time! icon_biggrin.gif

Your items are beautiful, but I'm trying to figure out what the thief is going to do with your teacups and mouse. They can't openly display stolen items . . . someone will surely ask where they got them - or will recognize them. They can't hope to pass them off as their own work. So that means they could only admire them in the privacy of their own home. Wouldn't a photo serve the same purpose?

I never will understand some people.

I hope your little mouse finds his way home. The guilt would eat me alive. I'd have to bring him back.

Maybe brought a lawn chair and just sat by it till 8:00 would have been easier on you. You can get them so they fold all up and pack away into a bag. And while your sitting there have a squirt gun in your hand, and a snarl on your upper lip. icon_smile.gif

I've come to realize that the world is filled with 90% decent people and the other 10% just don't give a damn! And I'm sure if they stole this piece of art and are reading this they are sitting there with a stolen pop/beer with a smile thinking yup it was me and you'll never catch me. I say hang em by their ears and let em beg for forgiveness!

Stealing is Never ok in any shape or form and has NO excuse.

thanks

There is also the possibility that the person taking it may have thought
that these items were abandoned.

It's only sugar! I can and am making more teacups icon_wink.gif .

My widow mouse, however, is still in mourning icon_cry.gif ...

Nannie, I am demo-ing the teacups for Capital Confectioners Cake Club DOS August 10 in Austin, TX, teaching a workshop in Dallas for the SugarWonder's Cake club on August 16th, 2008;
And another in Houston, TX for Frost-A-Tiers Cake Club in OCT-2008.

If anyone is interested, please PM me for detailed information icon_biggrin.gif

Now that's a funny visual. I can see myself there In a Lawn Chair with a water shotgun sitting across my lap as I spit into a bowl. Hahahaha!

I just cannot believe this...I mean the NERVE of some people.
As I read this thread I alternate between being teary-eyed, and laughing out loud.

I do love our CC family

JacqueB, please accept my heartfelt condolences for your loss, and convey the same to Mrs. Mouse-poor little thing.

this makes me so angry i can't stand it.

since i've been working on my bakery i've been robbed 10 times....tools and stuff like that, you kinda expect this from a jobsite...

but from a cake show? some people have no heart.

you know, i might be alone here....but the crime in singapore is very low...could it be that they cane the criminals?

that's what they need...a butt whoopin...or the possibility of one to make them think if its really worth it.

You know the really sad thing it too that it was probably someone you would least expect...
We had several break ins in our rural area and while I was home with my one month old I had an old man walk right into my home...I asked him to leave but it took my 168lb puppy to help him to decide to leave when I said I would not hold him back any longer...
I also went shopping at Joann's last Christmas...I accidently left my wallet on the counter after I paid....needless to say the old couple behind me claimed it as their own, even after the cashier asked them if it was theirs they claimed it was...they took it to the parking lot...took my last 5 bucks and threw it down...the same cashier got it back a few minutes later...and called me at home.

Unfortunately, bad people look nice and sometimes they are even old... I am so sorry Mrs. Mouse is alone...

sorry again and best wishes for Mrs. Mouse's recovery from her seclusion.

Mrs. Mouse thanks you all for your condolences.

She is still wiping away piping gel tears with rice paper, but I am rebuilding her teacup home. It will be an upgrade from her former teacup home. She, still traumatized, is asking for burglar bars. I am discouraging this, but have assured her that future security will be increased. She is still in seclusion... alone with her hubby's little detached tail...

Was it the end of the show because I know they throw away displays if their not picked up? But that is horrible that someone would do such a thing. But I guess if people can steal pic's and call them their own I guess stealing displays would be the next thing. Its a shame people are like that.
But on a good note, someone actually thought your work was worth stealing!!! Which would be a thumbs up for me that I did an awesome job! I know, doesnt help.

The demo displays were to be picked up at 7pm and I got there a few minutes after 7pm. I am not sure when convention is "technically over", but I was to demo the teacups again at 8pm for the "Night of Sharing" .
So, yes it was my responsibility to retrieve them at 7pm. icon_wink.gif

Maybe talk to some of the organizers of the show. Someone may of tossed it on you instead of stealing it. Either way it sucks, I know but it might put your mind at rest about it.

I immediately went to the room where the Night of Sharing was to be just to see if someone might have moved it there, and the show committee happened to be in there conducting a meeting. I asked them and no one had moved it or thrown it away.

The teacups and mouse may have just gotten bored and went off on an adventure! icon_wink.gif They are all most likely at the Magic Kingdom right now having the time of their lives!

Maybe, Mr. Mouse is related to Mickey (thru some distant family member) and I'm sure he took his own teacup to ride since the ones at the Magic Kingdom would be too big for him.

icon_surprised.gificon_surprised.gificon_surprised.gif OH NO!!!! I just had the thought... Maybe Mr. Mouse ran off with Mini and Stole Mickey's girl???? icon_cry.gificon_cry.gif

Maybe the thing to mention for shows future is what Mrs. Mouse is going through... Or... is Mr. Mouse a prisoner of war with that pesky cat from the Aristocats???? Especially since only his tail was left behind...

Either way it's something to mention to the show committee about displays even if you were late, it's still the factor of it was one of the primary displays so whatever happened to it, it seems someone kidnapped Mr. Mouse to the POW camp...

Oh NO!!! I just can't accept that he ran off in some kind of mid-life mouse-crisis, he's much too young - even in mouse years icon_confused.gif. And he'd have to be crazy to leave his adorable little wife-they hadn't been having trouble at teacup had they???
