However I still vote for the scale, it's easy and once you buy one you will discover that you use it ALL the time, at least that's what happened to me. Halving other recipes, etc. I bought mine from a baking supply store but have seen them at normal stores like Target, etc., for around $19US.

thanks, yes i really should get one. i was in a major jam when i wrote the post and didnt think i could get to the store before i had to make it. i may now. we dont have target up here in BC, although i reallllly wish we did! love target
LOL I noticed you were in BC; I figured I'd mention Target in case you have a comparable store in your neck of the woods 
. Seriously though, I never in my life thought I'd use a scale for anything other than exactly what you were trying to accomplish: measuring chocolate. Now it never gets put away, I use it nearly every day. That is NOT because I eat chocolate every day!
