Hi. I saw this cake on this site. How is the bottom part done?

It looks like it is a foam board and not a layer of cake. I dont think that a layer of cake could hold the weight. Either way it just looks like the first and second layers are just covered in one piece of fondant.
Just a guess.....it looks like they had a larger round cake that had been leveled to a thin size. Then placed the next layer on top (you would need plenty of supports). Once the cakes are positioned, cover both layers with fondant at once so it looks like it is all one piece??? That's probably what I would try if I wanted to duplicate it, but other than that I wouldn't know. It is pretty neat looking though!
Did you try to pm the person who made the cake to find out how they did it? I'm sure they would help you out. You could even link them to this psot so they could share with everyone! It is a very unique shape and pretty cake!
Ohhh......I like the foam board idea, that would feel much more "safe" as far as everything supporting itself!
