Anyone have some favorite cakes saved they could help me out with?

I want to make a cake Sunday for my Mother in laws birthday, she will be like 55 or so I believe.

I want something simple, yet classy and I just can't think of anything right now. Anyone have something that comes to mind?

Wasc with a strawberry filling is always pretty when cut. Or have you tried Dorie Greenspan's Perfect Party Cake? (Lemon with Raspberry filling)

A cupcake bouquet is always a winner- or just make flower cupcakes.

well i guess you like your mother in law or you wouldn't be making her a cake!!! a lemon with raspberry filling sounds so refreshing...good luck, post pics of the final project!!!!

One of my favorite cakes is a square mother's day cake in pale yellow with RI daisies and lace points all around the border. It was done by skisinokinowa, but I cannot find her user name or the cake now. I will try to search some more. It is such a beautiful and simply elegant cake...if anybody has it, please post!
