If you add new recipes just send them into the Ag. Dept as you get them collected.

Does anyone know if recipe copies are okay to include in the packet to send to Dept of Ag? I haven't called for my packet yet because I was hoping to get some of it started beforehand. Also does anyone have an example of a baking process?

You should really call and get your packet. They give you all kinds of examples to follow, it is fairly simple and explanatory. Not sure what you mean by recipe copies? You need to retype them if that is what you mean. Hope this helps.

Sometimes my head works faster than my fingers... I meant a copy of a recipe out of a cookbook or printed from a website. Thank you Pistol... I am planning on calling for the packet after the holidays. With an 18 mo old, my part-time job, and my last Wilton class, I know I wouldn't have time to dedicate to it at this point... I just thought if I could at least start gathering my recipes, it would be one less thing for me to do.

I am on CC to get ideas and recipes for great cakes. I need more experience and confidence before I branch out to start a business. Where did all of you get your frosting and cake recipes. I use box cakes doctored up and make my own buttercream. I need more variety in flavors though. Any suggestions on the best not too sweet buttercream icing and cake flavors?

Hi all, I thought I would post in one of the threads that talks about my problem rather than clogging the site up with yet another "Hi I need help" post

I'm just beginning to play around with the idea of starting a baking business from my home but I don't really have a big starting point other than, "I can bake"

Researching this site it seems that most VA bakers started off by calling 804-768-3520 for some sort of packet. This packet contains all the information I would need to start my business. Am I correct on this?

My main question is, once they send me this packet would I actually have to do something about it right away or could I wait a few months before I fill it out and read it over?

Thanks so much for any help!

You can wait, they don't chase you down after they send you the info! icon_smile.gif
