I carved a pillow cake this morning from a 10 inch square and measured it when I finished. It was roughly an 8 inch square minus the curves. Will it serve 15 ppl, children and adults? I have a chart for wedding servings and but this is for a birthday (party servings) and it just doesn't look like enough cake.
TIA!
according to the wilton chart an 8" x 2" double tier will serve 32 people so even party sized slices should get you 15 servings.
How tall is it? I classify anything that yields 8" of cake (lxwxh) a serving. So if its 2" tall, you want a 2x2" piece for a serving. If it's 4" tall, you only need a 1x2" piece. Trust me, that yields tons of cake.

It was 2-2x10 inch square cake layers filled w/ buttercream in the middle, but I've carved them into a pillow, so its only still 4 inches in the very center.
Visualize it cut in half. Would each half yield 7-8 servings? I think it would.
I will try this when I return to the kitchen. Thanks!

Wilton says a 8in square will serve 20 party size servings, which is 1.5x2. Children generally don't eat huge slices so I think you will have plenty of servings.
