What If I Add An Egg???

I'm just about to make a batch of cupcakes from a cake mix. If I add an extra egg will they be fluffier or more dense??? I should probably know the answer but if anyone can help me that'd be great.

My wilton teacher said to ad an egg for a more stable (dense cake)...I have never done ot though
