How Do I Make Scales On A Mermaid Tail?

Hi -- I am beginning to work on my daughter's 4th bday cake -- she wants a Little Mermaid on it. I have gotten lots of great inspiration from CC, and I love the mermaids I have seen made out of fondant, gumpaste, etc. my question is -- how do I make the scales on the tail? The ones I have seen on CC look so good -- do you use an impression mat of some sort or is there another method?

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Use a round tip and press a half-moon into the fondant. Use either the large end or the small (like a 10 or 12 tip) depending on the size of the tail.

For scales I either cut out circles, or use a round tip to make indentations....

I did a fish with tip 81. If she's small, then that might work for you. I posted about it and included pictures if that would help.

Like Anya was has said I was going to suggest tip 81 ...it is perfect!!
