This is my first time working with gum paste. I'm going to be mixing it with my fondant and I'm not to sure on what kind of gum paste to get. Do I need to buy the Ready-to-use kind or the mix? Or does it really matter?

If you're going to mix it with fondant anyway, why not simply add some tylose to your fondant and let it rest overnight? Then you will have instant gumpaste. I don't recall what the ratio is, but it's either 1 tsp or 1 tbsp of tylose to one pound of fondant.

If you want to blend them, you can buy ready made gumpaste. Just adding the mix can produce a product that is too dry to use.

You can also add 1tsp of tylose to 1 lb of fondant and you will have closer to the 50/50 mix. In my experience, it isn't quite as strong and fast drying as pure gumpaste.
