When applying a fabric ribbon at the base of each tier on a cake iced with IMBC, can I just stick the ribbon onto the IMBC while it's still soft (before refrigerating)? Will the fat in the icing seep through? What is the best way to apply a fabric ribbon to a cake iced with IMBC or other non-crusting BC?
Thanks,
Antgirl

You can back it with waxed paper or you can spray the ribbon with cooking spray and let it soak in - it will darken it but then you will not have grease spots.

Yep, spray her down with Pam and go with the greasy flow. I like putting it on after its chilled... that icing is so soft I'm afraid to muss it. If you need to reposition you won't be able to without damage if its warm still.
