Finally Gonna Sell, Need A Cute Catchy Name!!
Business By Batter-UpBakery Updated 31 May 2008 , 4:22am by Batter-UpBakery
Ok, so i have been doing cakes and such for friends and family. Well now I am gonna start selling. I will be renting a kitchen space for now so no store front yet. But I need a business name. My daughter has made a few suggestions, but she put my first name in all of them and I really dont want that. I will be selling cakes, cookies and pies. The cafe where I will be working out of is going to bye some stuff from me to set out for thier costumers yeah!!! So what do you think? I live in south east texas if that helps.
Ok well I thought I had a good name but I found out that there is a cafe about 250 miles from me with that name so im stuck again. My thought was The Yum Factory since I will be doing more than just cakes. Oh well back to the drawing board lol.
I thought about that, MichelleM77. I may see what I can come up with tonight and post it so that I can get some votes.
OK here is a few I have come up with, let me know what you think.
Sweet Beginnings (sp)
The Happy Baker
Sugar Cafe
Texas Treats
Ok heres three more. Also later on when I do get a shop i will be offering cold foods such as sandwiches and salads.
The Goody Bag
The Goody Shoppe
Deli Delights
How about:
Texas Treats & Deli Delights
Goody Bag makes me think it is a candy store.
Goody Shoppe makes me thing of an adult store. LOL!
Either way, using Texas makes me thing of something big, so you will have to make your desserts larger than life!

lol i cant have people thinking im selling adult toys lol
I like how you combined the two names.
here are 2 I always suggest because I love them....
Splattered Batter
Batter Up
Those are cute
I like Sweet Beginnings. I think its cute and down the line when you have sandwiches and other things you can remember your "sweet beginnings" and how it all started.
My only concern from a marketing standpoint with Texas Treats & Deli Delights, is the term "deli" (at least around me) means meats...delicatessen....that sort of thing. I don't think sweet at all. Plus, if it's "treats" it could be anything.
I do like the idea of having Texas in there, unless you're ever concerned about moving out of Texas, then you'd have to (more than likely) change the name.
Hmmm...how about
TexaSweets (visualizing a pretty cool logo there!)
The Sweet Factory
Tex Treats n' Sweets
Star Bakery
Texas Confections
What city do you live in? Maybe that'll help brainstorm!
I live in Hardin i like TexaSweets, its catchy and i doubt we ever move to a different state cause DH wont even consider a move two hours away for work lol. But the reason i was thinking deli is because when i get my own place and not just renting a kitchen space i was gonna offer salads and sandwiches for lunch. Maybe Deli-ghtful Texas Sweets or Deli-ghtful TexaSweets hehe. I dunno just throwing those out there.
the texan confection
then have a texas dressed lady with a lasso catching a cake running away with legs, with a apron on
ok i believe this is it. Batter Up Bakery, but of coarse I will prolly answer the phone with just Batter Up. I figured I would add bakery for those people who wouldnt catch on to the meaning lol. Thanks you guys for all the suggestions. I really appreciate it. I very big thank you to SugarBakerz!!!! That name just kinda popped out and stuck with me.
Batter-Up Bakery is cute and catchy! I do agree about adding "bakery", if you didn't, people might think you're a sporting goods store. Good luck with the new biz!
for what it's worth, there is a batter up cake co. in va. i don't know if TM'ing anything would affect that.
ashley
Unless they have a TM on the name, you are able to use it. The other business has to be so many miles from you and VA. certainly qualifies as being far enough away.
HOW ABOUT (SWEET NOTHINGS)............OR BUTTER-UP BAKERY,CAKE BOX BAKERY,OR THE SUGAR BOX BAKERY.
What about the Yummy Factory since you can't use Yum factory? I really like Batter Up Bakery...
my DS suggested The Yummy Factory also. I am still up in the air but I have to get this figured out by next week. So.....
There is a Batter Up in Montgomery, AL... which is where I saw the name and wished I had thought of it 1st.... If you decided to do the deli you could do Batter Up Bakery & Deli and I am sure there isn't a trademark issue with the name since it is used in conjuction with ball games I hope you decide to stick with it... it is such a catchy name and you know when you see it it means cakes and such because of batter.... you could also consider "the batter bowl".... keep us posted! And you are more than welcome...
