Anyone have a great crusting buttercream recipe to share? I'm not thrilled with the one I am currently using - it tastes too much like the grocery store frostings and I would like something a little more flavorful/rich.
Thanks!
Hi mconrey,
Have you tried the recipe section? There are several crusting recipes on there (just use crusting as your keyword). I just tried the following and thought it was good (the only one I tried previously was the Wilton class bc icing & this one is sooo much better)!

This is the best one I've tried. It's by Indydebi and crusts very well.
1 1/3 c. crisco
1/3 to 1/2 c. milk
3 TBSP. dream whip (it comes in a box)
2 - 3 TBSP.clear vanilla
2 lbs. powdered sugar

yes, mconery, you have got to make sharons buttercream.... it is so smooth and creamy and taste wonderful.... also you need to check her site..... and buy all her dvd's.... they are great.... she is a great teacher on these dvd's....
Thanks for all the responses! I'm going to have to try them out!
On another note - I just tried the Whimsical Bakehouse Buttercream recipe today and I'm not sure how I like it yet. It is not crusting and is not sweet at all. Seems like it would be difficult to decorate with. It reminded me a lot of Twinkie filling....But is was very light and fluffy.
